Photosynthesis: How Plants Make Food
1. Overview
Photosynthesis is the process by which plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to produce oxygen and energy in the form of glucose.
2. Light Reactions
Occur in the thylakoid membranes. Chlorophyll absorbs light energy and splits water molecules, releasing oxygen as a by-product.
3. Calvin Cycle
Takes place in the stroma. Uses ATP and NADPH to convert CO₂ into glucose through a series of enzymatic reactions.
